Leading musicians in the Danish underground interprets the blues as you've never heard it before

Through the close collaboration in the Copenhagen based band Deadpan, Martin Funder (Deadpan Interference, Telstar Sound Drone) and Arsene Survie (Syringe), found a common passion and understanding of the blues. A genre they chose to turn completely upside down in their new project Countermarch.

In the winter of 2018-19, the duo shook up a genre immortalized through Howlin' Wolf, Lightnin' Hopkins, John Lee Hooker and Albert King. However, the approach was characterized by a completely different reality than in the heyday of the blues. The EP is based on synthesizers, computers and samples – new components used to express the same emotions and elements that the classic blues offers.

Countermarch will record their first full length album in the winter of 2022/2023, which is inspired by avant-garde jazz and the hopeful neo-folk. In the autumn of 2022 Countermarch will play a row of intimate shows built from a sampler and lead by Arsene Survie´ intimidating vocals. The shows will be a promotion of their first EP and upcoming LP.

By not being available on social media, the duo creates a darkening which is manifested in the aesthetics of Countermarch
